Asia Pacific Internet Group (APACIG) announces start of new tech hub in Bangkok

The Asia Pacific Internet Group (APACIG), a Joint Venture of Rocket Internet and Ooredoo, has announced today the setup of their new tech headquarters in Thailand.

The tech hub based in Bangkok will manage the product development & technical operations of the companies within the APACIG portfolio. Among them hotel platform Zenrooms, travel-booking site Jovago as well as leading classifieds sites such as Everjobs and

The tech hub will be led by Sohil Gilani, Chief Product Officer, and Alex Stansfield, Head of Engineering, both experts who joined the group recently. Currently around 20 product managers, developers and system engineers are working out of Bangkok. Gilani and Stansfield aim to increase the number of employees significantly by the end of 2017.

In the past, we have worked with many separate teams as well as the Rocket Internet team out of Berlin and Porto. Now it is time, to start our own hub with regional expertise targeted to the needs of our companies,” says Hanno Stegmann, CEO of APACIG.

The focus of the APACIG tech team lies on enhancing technical excellence, security and user experience, making the most out of the synergies among the currently 14 portfolio companies. The companies within the portfolio will benefit in the future from the specialized team that knows the particularities of the business models and technical requirements from each region.
